Pulsense Frequently Asked Questions - Function Operating Conditions

Which Languages does the Pulsense device support?

The following languages can be selected for LCD display:

  • Japanese
  • English (US, UK)
  • French
  • German
  • Traditional Chinese

The language setting can be made via the Pulsense View website or the Pulsense mobile app.

After changing the language setting, change the LCD display to activate the selected language.

Can I use the Pulsense device without a smart device?

PS-500 - Yes. This model can be used with a PC for uploading data to the Pulsense View website.

PS-100 - No, a smart device is mandatory for this model.

What size wrist size does the Pulsense device support?

PS-500 - It can fit from 140 to 190 mm (circumference of wrist).

PS-100 - There are two different sizes available. S/M size: 135-160mm. M/L size: 150-210mm.

Is the Pulsense device water resistant?

The Pulsense device is 3 BAR water resistant. This is only effective when water is splashed, e.g. raining or when washing hands/face.

The Pulsense device is not water resistant when used where the water pressure changes rapidly, e.g. swimming or pouring water directly from a tap.

Can I use the Pulsense device while doing any kind of exercise?

Detecting a pulse may be difficult when doing the following types of exercise:

  • If you raise your arms above your head (e.g. aerobic exercise).
  • An exercise that involves a strong grip.
  • An exercise with vigorous motions.

You cannot use it for swimming. The Pulsense device is not water resistant when used where the water pressure changes rapidly.

Can I use my Pulsense device when I am on-board an aircraft?

The Pulsense device is equipped with Bluetooth wireless communication, and transmits radio waves when it's working. When on-board an aircraft or visiting a hospital you may be asked to turn off the communication of this type of device.

To turn off communication between your Pulsense and smart devices, follow these instructions:

How to turn off communication

  1. Tap on the device twice.
  2. Press [B] button twice, then press [A] button.
  3. Press [A] button when "System" is displayed.
  4. Press [B] button twice, then press [A] button.
  5. Press [A] button when "EXEC ?" is displayed.
  6. The LCD display goes off and the Pulsense device will turn off.

How to resume communication

  1. Press [A] button.
  2. The device will power on and the LCD display turns on.
  3. When your smart device is turned on, the communication between them will resume automatically.

How to turn off communication

  1. Remove the device from your wrist.
  2. Make sure that the blue and orange LEDs at both ends of the Pulsense device are blinking.
    If not, try pointing the pulse sensor on the back of the unit to strong light; like sun light or room light.
  3. Tap on the device several times.
  4. The blue LEDs will cycle and the Pulsense device will turn off.

How to resume communication

  1. Tap on your Pulsense device several times.
  2. The blue LEDs will cycle.
  3. When the smart device is turned on, the communication between them will resume automatically.

Under what environmental conditions, can I use my Pulsense device?

The Pulsense device can be used between -5°and +40°C.


Note:

Your blood flow may slow down in a cold environment, making it difficult to accurately read your pulse. Warm up your body and protect your Pulsense device by wearing warmer clothing.


What is the pulse range that my Pulsense device can measure?

It can measure a pulse rate between 28 bpm and 240 bpm.

How long is the battery life?

The life of the built-in rechargeable battery is 3 years, although this may change depending on the operating conditions (charging time/number of charges etc.).

In order to prevent deterioration of the battery, make sure to charge the device at least once every six months.
