Wireless Projector Setup

This article will guide you through the wireless setup options of Epson projectors using the Epson ELPAP07 and ELPAP10 wireless adapter.

Installing the Wireless LAN Module

To use the projector over a wireless network, install the Epson 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN module in the projector. Do not install any other type of wireless module.

  1. Remove the wireless LAN module cover screw.


  2. Install the wireless LAN module in the dedicated USB-A port.


  3. The light on the wireless LAN module turns on when the module is installed and operating. The light flashes when the module is communicating over the network.


Using Quick Wireless Connection (Windows Only)

You can use the Quick Wireless Connection USB key to quickly connect your computer to the projector wirelessly. Then you can project your presentation and once you are done remove the key.

Note:

The Quick Wireless Connection USB key (ELPAP09) is and optional accessory and is not included with the projector.

Make sure the wireless LAN module (ELPAP07 / ELPAP10) is installed. The wireless LAN module is and optional accessory and not included with all projectors.


  1. Turn on the projector.

  2. Press the LAN button on the remote control. You see a screen like this:


  3. Verify that an SSID and IP address are displayed, then remove the wireless LAN module from the projector.

  4. Insert the Quick Wireless Connection USB key into the same port used for the wireless LAN module.


    You see a projected message that the network information update is complete.


  5. Remove the USB key.

  6. Reinsert the wireless LAN module into the projector.

  7. Connect the USB key to a USB port on your computer or laptop.

  8. Reinsert the wireless LAN module into the projector.

  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Quick Wireless Connection driver.

    Note:

    For the Quick Wireless Connection driver to install on the PC you will need to have local administrator rights.

    If you see a Windows Firewall message, click Yes to disable the firewall for this application.
    After a few minutes, your computer image is displayed by the projector. If it does not appear, press the LAN button on your remote control or restart your computer.


  10. Run your presentation as necessary.

  11. When you finish projecting wirelessly, select the Safely Remove Hardware option in the Windows taskbar, then remove the USB key from your computer.

    Note:

    You may need to restart your computer to reactivate your wireless LAN connection.


Selecting Wireless Network Settings Manually

Before you can project from your wireless network, you must select the network settings for the projector using its menu system.

Note:

Connection modes available on Epson projectors:

  • Set to Advanced Mode in order to make an Infrastructure network connection.
  • Set to Quick Mode in order to make an Point to point connection.

  1. Turn on the projector.

  2. Press the Menu button

  3. Select the Network menu and press Enter.


  4. Select Network Configuration and press Enter.

  5. Select the Basic menu and press Enter.


  6. Select the following basic options as necessary:
    • Projector Name lets you enter a name up to 16 alphanumeric characters long to identify the projector over the network.
    • PJLink Password lets you enter a password up to 32 alphanumeric characters long for using the PJLink protocol for projector control.
    • Web Control Password lets you enter a password up to 8 alphanumeric characters long for accessing the projector over the web. (Default user name is EPSONWEB; default password is admin.)
    • Projector Keyword lets you turn on a security password to prevent access to the projector by anyone not in the room with it. The projector displays a random keyword that you must enter from a computer using the EasyMP Network Projection software or an iOS or Android device using iProjection.
    • Display LAN Info lets you select how the projector displays network information. You can select an option to display a QR code that lets you quickly connect your iOS or Android devices using the Epson iProjection app.
      Note:

      Use the displayed keyboard to enter the name, passwords and keyword. Press the arrow buttons on the remote control to highlight characters and press Enter to select them.


  7. Select the Wireless LAN menu and press Enter.


  8. Select the settings on the Wireless LAN menu as necessary for your network.

    Note:

    Your products user guide has more information about wireless configurations  


    The user guide can be downloaded from the Epson website.



  9. When you finish selecting settings, select Complete and follow the on-screen instructions to save your settings and exit the menus.

After you complete the wireless settings for your projector, you need to select the wireless network on your computer.

Searching for a Wireless Network

You can use your projector's site survey function to quickly locate and connect to available wireless networks.

Note:

Connection modes available on Epson projectors:

  • Set to Advanced Mode in order to make an Infrastructure network connection.
  • Set to Quick Mode in order to make an Point to point connection.

  1. Turn on the projector.

  2. Press the Menu button

  3. Select the Network menu and press Enter.


  4. Select Network Configuration and press Enter.

  5. Select the Wireless LAN menu and press Enter.


  6. Select Advanced as the Connection Mode setting and press Enter.

  7. Select Search Access Point and press Enter.


  8. Select the name of the wireless network you want to connect to and press Enter.

  9. If the network has security enabled, enter the wireless password. You see a screen like this:


  10. Select the settings on the security menu as necessary for your network.

  11. When you finish selecting settings, select Complete and follow the on-screen instructions to save your settings and exit the menus.

Before connecting to the projector, select the correct wireless network on your computer.

  1. To access your wireless utility software, access the Desktop and double-click the network icon on the Windows taskbar.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • If your projector is set up on an existing network (Advanced mode), select the network name (SSID).
    • If your projector is configured for Quick mode, select the projector's SSID.

  3. Click Connect.

Before connecting to the projector, select the correct wireless network in OS X.

  1. Click the AirPort icon on the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  2. Make sure AirPort is turned on, then do one of the following:
    • If your projector is set up on an existing network (Advanced mode), select the network name (SSID).
    • If your projector is configured for Quick mode, select the projector's SSID.

Setting Up Wireless Network Security

You can set up security for your projector to use on the wireless network. Set up one of the following security options to match the settings used on your network:

  • WEP encryption
  • WPA security

Note:

Check with your network administrator for guidance on entering the correct information.


  1. Turn on the projector.

  2. Press the Menu button

  3. Select the Network menu and press Enter.

  4. Select Network Configuration and press Enter.

  5. Select the Security menu and press Enter.


  6. Select the security settings as necessary to match your network settings.

  7. When you finish selecting settings, select Complete and follow the on-screen instructions to save your settings and exit the menus.

Using a QR Code to Connect a Mobile Device

After you select the wireless network settings for your projector, you can display a QR code on the screen and use it to connect a mobile device using the Epson iProjection app.

Make sure you have installed the latest version of Epson iProjection on your device: 


  1. Turn on the projector.

  2. Press the Menu button

  3. Select the Network menu and press Enter.


  4. Select Network Configuration and press Enter.

  5. Select the Basic menu and press Enter.


  6. Set the Display LAN Info setting to Text & QR Code.

  7. Select Complete and follow the on-screen instructions to save your settings and exit the menus.

  8. Press the LAN button on the remote control or select Display the QR Code in the projector's Network menu. Your projector displays the QR code on the projection surface.

    Note:

    If you do not see the QR code after pressing the LAN button, press Enter to display it.


  9. Start Epson iProjection on your mobile device.

  10. Use the QR code reader feature to read the QR code and connect your device to the projector.
